Template:Future game Template:Game The Legend of Zelda Wii U is an upcoming Zelda game for the Wii U, set to be released sometime in Holiday 2014.

Development

The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U was announced in E3 2011, with a trailer of Link fighting Gohma, making fans speculating that Nintendo developers are creating Zelda for the Wii U.[1][2] Eventually, on June 20th, 2011, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Nintendo is planning on creating an HD Legend of Zelda title.[3] In January 2013, a new Wii U Zelda game was officially confirmed; however, it was also stated that it would feature a different style than the Zelda HD Experience. It was said the title would not have the similar remastered graphics from Twilight Princess, but those from Skyward Sword instead. More sources are set to be revealed in E3 2013.

A Swedish gaming magazine had exclusive info about the next Zelda game for the Wii U. Its cover features a cel-shading Link looking like a young teenager. stating that its story will take place before Template:OOT and that the incarnation of Link has to reunite the races of Hyrule together. The magazine seems to state the Zelda game will have Majora's Mask references, the story of the game suggests the hero can choose any race the player wants. Each race of Hyrule has different storyline and playstyle.[4]

Majora's Mask HD

Since Majora's Mask was officially considered, it was implied that the game would be released on the Nintendo 3DS. There were chances for it to be playable on the Wii U as well. In E3 2012, a trailer of Majora's Mask, with HD remastered and realistic graphics was shown, featuring Deku Link inside the Clock Tower looking for the Happy Mask Salesman.
