The Eighth Heroine is a Side Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Overview

Link can begin this Side Quest by speaking to Bozai while wearing the Gerudo Outfit. Bozai can be found sometimes running around the Gerudo Desert in front of Gerudo Town. With the Gerudo Outfit on, Bozai will think Link is a woman and become interested in him. Bozai will introduce himself to Link, making note that he is single and loves jogging on sand.[2] He claims that people say he is tenacious,[3] and so he asks Link if he wants to spend some time with him.[4]

However, instead of answering, Link notices how well he is running on the sand, which Bozai attributes to his Sand Boots.[5] He once again tries to coerce Link into spending some time alone with him.[6] but he is thrown off by him asking for the Sand Boots.[7] Though he is initially hesitant due to their rarity,[8] he changes his mind when he realizes he could use this to woo Link.[9]

Bozai agrees to give the Sand Boots to Link in exchange for a favor.[10] He then asks Link if he has ever heard of the Eighth Heroine.[11] He explains that while everyone has heard of the Seven Heroines, there is also a legend of an Eighth Heroine in the northern Gerudo Highlands that has been wiped from history.[12][13] Bozai promises to give Link his Sand Boots if he shows him a Picture of the Eighth Heroine.[14][15] Bozai also suggests that there might be someone in Gerudo Town who knows more about the legend.[16] Before he finishes speaking, Bozai lends Link his pair of Snow Boots for faster traversal through the Gerudo Highlands.[17] Once this is done, the Side Quest begins.

If Link goes into the Royal Palace of Gerudo Town and feeds a piece of Fruit to Riju's Sand Seal, Patricia, Link may receive additional information about the Eighth Heroine. Padda interprets Patricia's words, saying that Risoka Snowfield rests upon the Eighth Heroine's shoulders.[18] Risoka Snowfield is located in the northwest section of the Gerudo Highlands. On the northern edge of the Snowfield, Link will find the Statue of the Eighth Heroine.

After taking a Picture of the Statue's torso with his Sheikah Slate, Link returns to Bozai to show him the picture. Bozai is glad to see Link is safe after starting to worry he would never return.[19] He admits that the Eighth Heroine does not exist and only used it as an excuse to get close to Link.[20] Since his excuse put Link in harm's way,[21] Bozai vows not to put him in danger anymore and to be his protector.[22]

When Link interrupts to say that he found the Statue, Bozai will think that Link is merely trying to console him.[23] He calls Link a kind soul, but he insists there is no need to coddle him.[24] Link interrupts Bozai again to show him the Picture of the Statue, which Bozai is shocked to actually exists.[25] He promises to keep it a secret as a way for the two of them to bond.[26]

Bozai begins to ask Link for romantic involvement,[27] before Link interrupts him, asking for the Sand Boots he was promised.[28] Bozai takes the Sand Boots off and gives them to Link, telling him to treat them tenderly.[29] Bozai then requests his Snow Boots back, which Link obliges.[30] Before leaving, Bozai invites Link to join him later at the nearby tent.[31] Link says bye without answering the question,[32] and the Side Quest is completed.
