If you place the stone slab fragment into the stone slab, you will be able to get a hint about how to conquer the dungeon.

Stone Slabs are tablets that can be found in every Dungeon on Koholint Island. Each Slab resides on a wall and holds a message, but cannot be read because a part of it is missing.[3] Link must explore the Dungeon until he finds a Treasure Chest containing the missing Stone Slab Fragment. He can then return the Fragment to the Slab, revealing a hint about a Puzzle, an Enemy, a Guardian, or the Dungeon Boss.

In Link's Awakening DX and Link's Awakening for Nintendo Switch, they are replaced by Owl Statues.

Tears of the Kingdom

Stone Slabs are common objects which can be used with Ultrahand to construct vehicles and more complex objects. They are part of the Dirigible Schematic.
