Skyloft is a location in Skyward Sword. It is a series of floating islands above the clouds, most notably known as the place where Link was born and raised.[1] The main island houses the Knight Academy, a boarding school that Link and Zelda attend along with a few others.[2] Other notable areas include the Bazaar, a large residential quarter, a bathhouse and a large deity statue.[3] It also serves as the home to the sacred blade: the Goddess Sword.

Overview

The citizens of Skyloft, including Link, are are an isolated group, unaware of the existence of worlds other than their own.[4] They have a friendly relation with bird-like creatures called Loftwings and use them to navigate the skies. The annual Wing Ceremony highlights the importance of Loftwings, which are used not only for transportation, but for competition as well.

After the ceremony, Link and Zelda go for an evening flight, when suddenly a large tornado sucks Zelda to the land beneath the clouds. In his attempt to rescue Zelda, Link discovers Hyrule, a land ruled by evil forces. Link finds himself traveling back and forth between these two lands, Skyloft and Hyrule, with the help of the Goddess Sword and his trusty Loftwing.[5][6]
