NOTE: Only applies to he Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

A set bonus is when a Link / the player puts on a certain set of clothes (e.g. the "Gerudo Set"), they are given a effect (usually given by cooking food and elixirs / potions). Sometimes to trigger the effect you must increase the numbers of levels by 2. The way to acquiring levels is by releasing and collecting materials and returning them to a Great Fairy, found in greater Hyrule.
