- This article is about the Runes from Breath of the Wild. For the manga character, see Rune (Mishouzaki).
Runes are functions that can be added to the Sheikah Slate in Breath of the Wild.[citation needed]
Location and Uses
Runes are special objects controlled by the Sheikah Slate that can affect the world around Link. Runes are primarily obtained from the Ancient Shrines scattered across Hyrule. To obtain a Rune, Link must insert the Sheikah Slate into a pedestal to extract them.[1] Upon extraction, Link can access that Rune's abilities by pressing the L Button and selecting the Rune.
