The Rickety Coaster is the name for the minigame and the minecart track that sprawls around the Shipyard it is featured in Skyward Sword. It is run by a sole Goron by the name of Gontram.


Appearance and Features

The Rickety Coaster is a large rollarcoaster that is owned by Gontram. Running around multiple sharp turns, and connecting large ancient buildings that were part of a town where the citizens would help build the ships located inside the Shipyard[1]. Gontram would spend his day riding the tracks due to being alone for years[2]. It is first used as an alternative when the entrance to the Shipyard leading to more clues about the Sandship is found to be locked[3]. Gontram allows Link to use the minecart after explaing how to ride one to reach the other entrance to the Shipyard which is located at the other end of a large minecart track. After riding through twists and turns Link reaches the Shipyard where the scoripian Moldarch is found under a pit of sand.

After obtaining Nayru's Flame, Link can return to find that Gontram has set up a minigame for the price of 20 Rupees with two track choices the "Heart Stopping! or the "Scary!" track. The Heart Stopping! requires that Link beats Gontram's incredible time of 1:05 in order to recieve a heart piece. The Scary track rewards other prizes such as Rupees or treasure.

Enemies that appear in the Shipyard or Rickety Coaster are Lizalfos, Aracha, and a Moldarch.
