Reesong Palace

Reesong Palace (pronounced /ˈɹiːsɒŋ/ REE-song) is a location in The Wand of Gamelon. It the game's final stage and is unlocked after completing Shutoy Lake.

Features and Overview

Reesong Palace is a large, fortress-like castle north of Gamelon's most mountainous area. It was seized by Ganon, leaving it considerbly run-down and filled with hordes of his minions. It is also here that Ganon has King Harkinian imprisoned. A long bridge running down the side of the mountain connects the palace to Nokani Forest, where Zelda enters the area. In order to progress through the palace, Zelda also needs to bring the Key held by Duke Onkled in Dodomai Palace. The bridge is initially plagued by invisible enemies, but are made visible by the light of the Fairy Lantern from Nokani Forest. At the end of the bridge is the fortress yard, where Impa appears to aid Zelda with the Triforce of Wisdom's guidance. The Triforce tells Zelda that she "can only win by falling", referring to the sewer inside the castle that Zelda should fall in. A boulder blocking the entrance at the end of the yard can be destroyed with either 10 Bombs or the Power Glove.

The entrance eventually leads to a tower filled with Flying Fish and Stone Heads. One of the heads drops a Key to the next door after it is defeated. Outside the tower is the palace's courtyard. A door in the yard leads to Ganon, but is initially locked. A large sewer hole also appears in the middle of the courtyard, where Zelda should fall in as Impa advised. Inside the tunnel is a ladder on the right leading to a small passage that connects to a destroyed room. A grated window at the bottom of the tunnel exits to the palace's outer area. In the destroyed room, Goriyas attack Zelda and spikes fall from the ceiling constantly. A Goriya at the end drops the Key to Ganon's room.

Inside Ganon's chamber, Zelda confronts Ganon with the light of the Fairy Lantern. He attacks her from one of the platforms, but is defeated with the Wand of Gamelon, which imprisons him inside a book. A Key that opens King Harkinian's cell is also dropped, and Zelda is left to climb the rest of the room's ladders and chains. At the end of the room is the door to the King's prison cell, and Zelda frees him from his cage.

Trivia

• Along with Dodomai Palace, Reesong Palace is one of two stages in the game to have a puzzle of any kind. Zelda must fall down a sewer tunnel in order to locate the Key that opens Ganon's room.
