Rauru is a town in western Hyrule in The Adventure of Link. It is close to the North Palace, located just to the east of it, and it's the first town that Link must visit in his quest.
The Shield Spell can be earned here by speaking to one of the women in town. She wishes for Link to talk to her father before leaving to his next destination.[1]. Upon entering her house, an Old Man will be waiting at the end of the basement to teach the young hero his first spell.[2]
Rauru, one of Seven Sages from Ocarina of Time, is named after this town.
