Characteristics
The Quadro Baba is a unique form of the Deku Baba. Unlike common Deku Babas, it has a golden exterior and can open its mouth both horizontally and vertically. The Quadro Baba is also slightly more durable and much more aggressive. They are capable of dodging Link's Sword attacks by serving away, and unlike Deku Babas, can also avoid stab attacks. They will then counterattack by biting after dodging. These enemies become more common later in the game.
Much like the common Deku Baba, Quadro Babas are vulnerable only when their mouths are exposed when opened. Link must slice alongside the opening of its mouth, using a vertical slice if its mouth is open vertically, or a horizontal slice if its mouth is open horizontally. Its mouth also briefly opens up fully when it attacks, making it vulnerable to both horizontal and vertical Sword strikes. Quadro Babas can also be defeated through alternate methods: Dropping a Bomb with the Beetle will defeat it, as well as shooting an Arrow with the Bow at its mouth or vine. A Shield Bash can also be used to stun this enemy, and can then be chopped in half.
