A Pyrup is an enemy featured in Skyward Sword. They are seal-like enemies that reside in fiery areas.
Strategy
Once Link is spotted by them, they will quickly hide in holes in walls and breath a stream of fire at Link. Link sometimes can avoid them, but other times the stream of fire will block the objective path forward. To defeat Pyrups, the young hero has to use a Bomb Flower, and set it off near the hole where the Pyrup is hidden in. The Bomb can be set off normally, or automatically if it touches the flame the Pyrup is breathing. The resulting explosion kills the Pyrup.
The Shelled Pyrup a more mobile, shelled variant of a normal Pyrup also appears. The shell and increased mobility allows them to simultaneously spin and breath fire at Link. The young hero must throw a bomb in a small hole in the center of their shells to destroy them.
Etymology
The name Pyrup derives from "pyro", the Greek word for fire, which is appropriate as they breath fire and live in hot climates, and "pup", a slang term for "puppy", referring to their small, squeaky, juvenile nature.
