Once Link is spotted by them, they will quickly hide in holes in walls and breathe a stream of fire at Link. Link sometimes can avoid them, but other times the stream of fire will block the objective path forward. To defeat Pyrups, the young hero has to use a Bomb Flower, and set it off near the hole where the Pyrup is hidden in. The Bomb can be set off normally, or automatically if it touches the flame the Pyrup is breathing. The resulting explosion kills the Pyrup.
Pyrup derives from "pyro", the Greek word for fire, and possibly "pup", short for "puppy", referring to their small, juvenile appearance.

The Shelled Pyrup is a more dangerous variety of Pyrup, that has taken up residence in an abandoned shell or the skeletal remains of another creature. Upon spotting Link, they will release a bellow of flames at the hero, blowing up any nearby Bombs or Bomb Flowers . In order to defeat the Shelled Pyrup, Link must throw a Bomb or Bomb Flower into the opening on the top of the Pyrup's shell, or he may have to roll the Bomb under the creature. The reccomended action for the bomb, roll or throw, depends on how the Shelled Pyrup and its shell is positioned. If the Bomb is used correctly and manages to make contact with the Pyrup, it will explode destroying the Shelled Pyrup.left

The name Pyrup derives from "pyro", the Greek word for fire, which is appropriate as they breath fire and live in hot climates, and "pup", a slang term for "puppy", referring to their small, squeaky, juvenile nature.

Fi says:

Target lock: Pyrup

This skittish monster prefers to hide in small holes or inside the skeletal remains of deceased creatures.

Once the cowardly Pyrup finds a small space from which to spit flames, it becomes unapproachable.

You will need to employ a clever strategy to defeat it. Inflicting damage from a distance may be the only way.

Pyrups are fish-like, pinniped enemies that inhabit fiery areas, especially within the Eldin Volcano. They are cowardly creatures that quickly flee and hide in holes in walls or the remains of deceased creatures, from which they breathe a continuous stream of fire when Link draws close. At times their stream of fire will block the path forward, preventing Link from progressing ahead. To defeat them, Link must use a Bomb or Bomb Flower and set it off near the hole where the Pyrup is hidden in. The easiest method is to roll a Bomb toward the hole, allowing Link to stand from a safe distance. The resulting explosion, if it reaches the Pyrup, will kill the enemy.

Some Pyrups will take residence in an abandoned shell or the skeletal remains of another creature, as opposed to hiding in a wall. To defeat these Pyrups, Link must either throw a Bomb into the opening on the top of their shell or roll it underneath, defending on what the Pyrup has lodged itself into. Link can also stab the Pyrup with his Sword if there is an opening in the shell.

Nomenclature

Pyrup derives from "pyro", the Greek word for fire, and possibly "pup", short for "puppy", referring to their small, juvenile appearance.
