Pumpkin Head was a spirit entity who guarded the first [[Essence of Time]] in the dreary [[Spirit's Grave]] in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages|Oracle of Ages]]''. Pumpkin Head was the first big real threat [[Link]] encountered in collecting the essences, but the method of defeating the spirit was quite simple. As its name implied, Pumpkin Head had an invulnerable pumpkin as a "head" and a vulnerable torso and legs. Link swiped at the vulnerable spots, eventually causing the "body" to disappear, leaving only the pumpkin on the ground. After throwing the "head" with his [[Power Bracelets]], Link found out that the pumpkin was actually a host for a small glowing spirit that flew around the room, intent on killing Link for disrupting its protective shell.
