The Popo are recurring enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.[1] It resides in dungeons such as Eastern Palace, Desert Palace, Misery Mire and the Temple of Darkness.

Characteristics

Popo are sentient masses of tentacles that move along the ground and will harm Link if he touches them. Their movement is shambling and without specific direction; they won't actively seek Link out and will often move in a different direction entirely. Rather than a threat, they mainly act as a nuisance and are only likely to cause harm if other enemies are involved. They do, however, appear in large swarms on occasion, but their slow movement means that even as a large mass, they are not particularly dangerous. They can easily be defeated with a single hit of most weapons, and often leave behind Rupees. In A Link Between Worlds, Popo will now home in on Link and follow him when he gets close to them.

Trivia

  • Popo were erroneously called Leevers in the Top Secrets booklet that was originally packaged with A Link to the Past.
