Pokey are cactus-like monsters, better known as enemies in the Super Mario Bros. series. They dwell in the deserts of Koholint Island and Holodrum respectively in Link's Awakening and Oracle of Seasons. The creatures do not move very fast, and can only harm Link if he is careless enough to touch one. He must be careful and strike away each section of their body with the sword.

Closely related to the Pokey, the Fire Pokey appear in both Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. In Oracle of Seasons, the Fire Pokey make appearances when Link enters into Subrosia. In Oracle of Ages, Link encounters a Fire Pokey while in Symmetry Village.

Fire Pokey can easily be defeated with a few simple sword slashes. Their only attack consists of fireballs which they only occasionally spit out towards Link.

Trivia

  • By hitting a Pokey with a Mystery Seed, they will recover destroyed parts of their body.
