Nintendo GameCube
The Nintendo GameCube (ニンテンドーゲームキューブ, Nintendō Gēmukyūbu) is Nintendo's fourth home console system released outside of Japan. Though it had initially strong sales, its release over a year after the PlayStation 2 (as well as other mistakes by Nintendo) caused it to lag behind in sales.
Due to disappointing sales figures, Nintendo's lack of care for online gaming and a controller with a smaller button count, the console also lost a lot of third party support, which ultimately meant that the selection games to choose from was not nearly as extensive as the GameCube's main competitors, PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
Nintendo fans, however, frantically support the system and turn a blind eye to any of its faults, which is often referred to as fanboyism. However, that being said, the GameCube does have a good amount of quality 1st- and 2nd-party games, which are sure to please buyers of the system with classics such as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, Super Mario Sunshine, F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.
