The Nintendo GameCube is Nintendo's fourth home console system. Though it had initially strong sales, its release over a year after the Playstation 2 caused it to lag behind in sales. Due to disappointing sales figures, the console also lost a lot of third party support, which ultimately meant that the library of games to select from was not as extensive as the other two consoles.
Nintendo fans, however, are the type that generally prefer quality over quantity, and have frantically supported the GameCube thanks to its exclusive quality games such as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, F-Zero GX and Metroid Prime 1 & 2.

After suffering from being released after the PlayStation 2, it early fell behind in sales numbers and never managed to regain what was lost. Due to disappointing sales numbers the consoles also lost a lot of third party support, which ultimately meant that the library of the games to select from was not impressive.
Nintendo fans however did not need a lot of second class games, and frantically supported the GameCube thanks to its exclusive quality games such as The Wind Waker, various versions of Mario, F-Zero, Metroid and much more.
