Nebb is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[4][5]

Biography

Breath of the Wild

Nebb is a young Hylian child who resides in Hateno Village. He and his family live in the house northeast of the Village's entrance. During the day, it is his duty to watch over his sister, Narah, while their mother Nikki is at the Well.[3] The two of them can be found running in front of the East Wind, the Well, and the Kochi Dye Shop. As he runs, he wonders about the world and makes noises imitating Weapons.[6][7] At night, he sleeps in one of the Beds in the loft of his House, where he dreams about fighting.[8][9]

The first time Link speaks to him, Nebb asks if he is from outside of Hateno Village.[10] Since Link looks like he can use a Bow and sword, Nebb asks if he is strong.[11] Regardless of Link's answer, Nebb decides to ask for his help in making his dream come true.[12] He explains that his deceased grandfather was a lover of weaponry, but he passed away before seeing all of the Weapons he wanted to.[2] Therefore, he asks Link to show him Weapons so he can describe them to his grandfather when they meet again.[13]

When Link agrees, Nebb will be excited.[14] For his first request, he tells Link to bring him a Traveler's Sword.[15] Once their conversation is concluded, "The Weapon Connoisseur" Side Quest will begin. Throughout the Quest, Nebb will also ask Link for a Fire Rod,[16] a Moblin Club,[17] a Duplex Bow,[18] a Windcleaver,[19] an Ancient Battle Axe+,[20] a Frostspear,[21] and an Ancient Short Sword.[22] Whenever Link brings a Weapon, Nebb will give him either a Red Rupee, a Purple Rupee, a Silver Rupee, a Gold Rupee, or a Diamond.[23][24][25] He claims that these rewards were given to him by his grandfather to pass onto the one who could show him these Weapons or teach him how to fight.[26][27][28] Whenever Link returns to Nebb during the Side Quest, he will remind him of the Weapon he wants to see.[29] After showing Nebb the final Weapon, he once again thanks Link, stating that his grandfather must be happy.[30] With this, the Side Quest will be completed.

When Link speaks to Nebb later on, he asks what he wants.[31] If Link asks to play with him, Nebb explains that he is unable to due to needing to look after Narah.[3][32] He notes that his mother is always busy talking with Amira at the Well, and he reasons that adults must have difficult lives.[33] If Link remarks that he appears busy, Nebb attributes it to being in charge of Narah.[34] During Rain, he will take shelter in his House, where he practices hitting a wooden dummy with a stick. At 9:00 PM, Nebb and Narah return home for the night, with Nebb telling Link that he will be going to sleep soon.[35][36]

If Link carries the Blue Flame in front of Nebb, he becomes interested and follows him around.[37] When Link speaks to him, he will be curious and ask what it is.[38][39]
