Mila is a character in The Wind Waker. She is a rich girl from Windfall Island who was kidnapped by the Helmaroc King and taken to the Forsaken Fortress.[1]

Biography

Mila is eventually rescued during Link's second trip to the Forsaken Fortress, where Tetra and her crew of pirates take Mila and Maggie back to Windfall Island. However, her father spent all of his Rupees paying Tetra for bringing her back to the island safely.[2] Mila was saddened and angered by her new life of poverty, so she started to work at Zunari's Shop to try and bring some income to the family.[3][4] However, she became fed up and snuck out at night to steal Rupees out of Zunari's safe;[5] she was caught by Link, who convinced her what she was doing was wrong.[6] Nowadays, instead of sneaking out at night, she spends her evenings working at a faraway island.[7]

Mila had a very bossy and overbearing disposition before being kidnapped,[4] but has become more humble and polite afterward now that she has accepted her new lifestyle.[8]

Trivia

  • Her Spanish and German name, Felicitas, means "fortunate", fitting her lavish life in the beginning of the game. In the Slavic languages, the word for "dear" or "precious" is mila, which also somewhat reflects Mila's character. In contrast, Maggie's Spanish and German name means "sorrowful".
  • The Dress Mila wears when rich is very similar to the one worn by Princess Peach from the Mario Series.
