At the start of Link's Awakening, Link wakes up in this small and quiet village. The village includes a library, a shop, (which Link, with the help of his Pegasus Boots, can easily rob), a game parlor, where the locals can win prizes, including hearts and a Yoshi Doll. There is the home of a dog loving woman who owns Bow-Wow, a chainchomp, an enemy in the Mario universe. There is of course the home of Marin and Tarin, the house of a family with a new born baby and a mysterious house with nothing but a bed in it...
In the center is a large statue of a cucco. This is where Marin teaches Link the Ballad of the Wind Fish.
Mabe Village is apparently the sister city of the Animal Village.
