Template:Species The Lokomo tribe first appears in Spirit Tracks, and are native inhabitants of Hyrule. Along Link's quest, he must find Lokomos who will teach him a song to play on the Spirit Flute, and restore the tracks to gain access to a temple.[1]
As servants to the Spirits, the sole role of the Lokomo is to protect the land, most importantly, to protect it from the Demon King, Malladus. After meeting the guardian of the Tower of Spirits, Anjean, Link travels across Hyrule meeting the Lokomo sages of each realm in order to restore the Spirit Tracks, the chains that bind Malladus. With Zelda's Spirit Flute, Link performs a number of duets with the Lokomos as it is the only way to restore the Spirit Tracks.[2]
In the final battle of the against Malladus, Link, with the inner power of Zelda and the Lokomos perform one last song together to weaken the Demon King. When Maladus is finally slain the Lokomo, whom are no longer needed, ascend to the heavens, now at peace.
Trivia
- It should be noted that the name of the tribe is remarkably similar to the word "locomotive," which may imply a connection between the tribe and trains.
- Lokomo was also the name of a Finnish steam locomotive and railroad equipment manufacturing company[3]
- Each of the Lokomos have names that are similar sounding to parts of a train.
