Hylians

The Hylians are a race of people who inhabit the land of Hyrule. Among their ranks are the King of Hyrule himself, his daughter, Princess Zelda and also the lengendary hero, Link. Hylians look like humans; the only difference appearence-wise is their ears. All Hylians have pointed ears. Hylians are often considered the leading race of Hyrule, but other races would be glad to disagree. Hylians are able to use magic to their advantage. This has been demonstrated in several different ways over time.

We know from Minish Cap that Hylians are in fact humans. It is said their pointy ears help them to better hear the gods speak. It is said that they have mysterious powers.
