Template:Character The Knight of Hylia, also known as Hylia's Chosen Hero, is the title of the incarnation of Link who was chosen by the Goddess Hylia thousands of years ago prior the events of Skyward Sword. He is depicted to wear a similar clothes to that of the Hero of Time from Ocarina of Time's Adult Timeline, often seen wearing a red cape and an older version of Link from Skyward Sword. As he is born from an era sometime after the creation of the world by the Golden Goddesses, the Knight of Hylia is the first incarnation of Link. Beginning as a hero of legend, later had another descendant or possibly a reincarnation from the next era thousands of years later after, making him the true ancestor of those who first possessed the Spirit of the Hero that passed down within their bloodline.

History

Not much is known about Knight of Hylia's story. However, the hero was born on the Surface during the Era of the Goddess Hylia. It is implied that he was born in a city that soon turned into Skyloft by the Goddess Hylia. It was known that Her Grace made him her chosen hero. She then gave her Sailcloth to him long ago as said in the legends.

The Battle Against Demise

The Knight of Hylia fought with the Goddess Hylia during the war against the Demon King and somehow died, leaving the Hylia the only one left to protect the world against Demise.^{[citation needed]}

Non-Canon Information

In the Skyward Sword manga by Akira Himekawa, it is confirmed that the Knight of Hylia was a Link. Link was born on a world known as the Land of Hylia. He lived his life in a city from the world below the clouds. During his childhood, Link was playing with the children, then saw a Loftwing flying in the air.

Several years later, Link had grown up and matured as an adult and became a Knight of Hylia. He was popular, respected and regarded as a hero by the Hylia people from the city. Just until one day, the hero was found imprisoned by the people of the city for 4 years, since his sword, Orville, was broken, and was decieved by Lord Dagianis, who was killed 4 years later by Demise. After his death, the peole came to free the Knight of Hylia from his prison and state that he is the only one to save the Land of Hylia from Demise's army of monsters, then give him his repaired sword and his clothes. The Knight of Hylia, Link, appears in front of many people on top of the castle, cheering up for the hero. Gazing at the sky, he says to himself that he will fight for the Goddess Hylia forever if she still needs him. Ready to fight against Demise and his army with his allies who will accompany him, a Loftwing flies at Link suddenly. Archers were ready to shoot it, however, it was revealed that the Goddess Hylia was the one riding an appearently old Loftwing in person. As the Loftwing can talk, he insults the Hylians, saying that they are useless and don't know the differences of deities and monsters, and the hero he seeks, who would ride this Loftwing and face Demise, is not among the people of the Surface. Link, angered by hearing his words, saying the ones he is searching for is him and his allies and will defeat Demise. As the Loftwing and Hylia are surprised, the bird then asks who he is, then reveals who he is while proclaming himself as the Knight of Hylia and says there are those among him who possess such courage. Hylia has acknowledged her knight's remarkable courage and chose him as her chosen hero, calling him the Surface's most valiant honorable man. She then allows him to wield her legendary weapon brought by the gods, the Master Sword.

It is probable that Knight of Hylia was also wielding the Goddess Sword during the Era of the Goddess Hylia, until one day, the hero managed to turn it into the Master Sword as seen in the manga.
