Template:Ability The Great Spin Attack,[1] also known as the Hurricane Spin,[2] is a recurring ability in The Legend of Zelda series.

Overview

When Link performs a Hurricane Spin, he can spin multiple times, prolonging the use of a regular Spin Attack and causing far more damage. It also leaves Link invincible to most attacks; however, it causes him to become dizzy and vulnerable to enemy attacks for a few seconds after being used, unless he collides with an obstacle during the attack. In The Wind Waker and the Game Boy Advance version of A Link to the Past, this powerful maneuver consumes Magic. A version of this move is first displayed by Ralph when he is practicing sword fighting with Link in the ending credits of Oracle of Ages.[3] A similar attack was also utilized by Zant when he is fought in the Palace of Twilight in Twilight Princess; he is also left stunned after prolonged use,[4] although when nearing death he will sometimes randomly alternate between this attack and his double vertical slice attacks.[5]

Game How to Obtain How to Perform
The Wind Waker Must bring 10 Knight's Crests to Orca on Outset Island.[6] Must charge Link's sword until it glows yellow.[2]

The Minish Cap Taught to Link by Swiftblade I in the southwest side of Castor Wilds.[7] Must tap the sword button repeatedly after performing a Spin Attack.[8]
Phantom Hourglass Must complete the Phantom Hourglass Trading Sequence to obtain the Swordsman's Scroll.[9] Must use a Spin Attack three times in a row.[10]
Spirit Tracks Learned after obtaining 20 stamps and talking to Niko, who will give Link one of the Swordsman's Scrolls.[11] Must use a Spin Attack three times in a row.[12]
