Horwell is a character in Skyward Sword.[2]
Biography
Horwell is one of the Knight Academy instructors, and is also the instructor in charge of the Wing Ceremony. He has a great knowledge of animals, such as Remlits.[1]
Before the Wing Ceremony, he asks for Link's help retrieving Gaepora's Remlit, Mia, who has climbed atop the academy's roof.[3] Horwell explains that, although Mia looks harmless, he lets the Remlit roam free outside at night since the creature transforms into a vicious monster.[4][5]
After Link's Loftwing is kidnapped by Groose, Headmaster Gaepora informs Horwell about the incident so that he may delay the Wing Ceremony.[6] When Horwell learns of this, he reassures Link not to worry about the race, pointing out that he owes the young hero for having recovered Mia for him.[7]
Once all 80 of the Gratitude Crystals have been recovered, Horwell will be found wandering around Skyloft with Mia as she will no longer exhibits any of her previous aggressive behavior.[8]
Trivia
- As most residents of Skyloft are modeled after birds, Horwell's and Owlan's designs were based on the Rito from The Wind Waker.[9]
- In Breath of the Wild, Horwell Bridge is named after Horwell.[10]
Nomenclature
Horwell's name may derive from the great horned owl. His name also seems to be based on the name "Orwell".
