The Great Fairy's Sword is a recurring item in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][name references needed]

Location and Uses

Majora's Mask

Link can obtain the Sword by collecting all 15 Stray Fairies in the Stone Tower Temple and returning them to the Fairy's Fountain in Ikana Canyon. Doing so will return the Great Fairy of Kindness back to normal, who will thank Link and give him the Sword as a reward for his help.[2]

Unlike the Kokiri Sword, Razor Sword, and Gilded Sword, the Great Fairy's Sword is equipped to the C Buttons as an item rather than the B Button.[3] Being a double-handed Sword, it cannot be used in concurrence with a Shield. To counter this disadvantage, it deals four times as much damage as the Kokiri Sword, making it the most powerful Sword in the game,[4] along with the Fierce Deity Sword. Moreover, Link can use the Sword even if he is jinxed by a Blue Bubble.

Other Appearances

SoulCalibur II

In SoulCalibur II, the Great Fairy's Sword referred to as the Great Fairy Sword, appears as one of Link's available weapons. It is considered to be his ultimate sword,[5] and can be purchased from the Cepheus Shop along with the Hylian Shield for 9800 Gold while playing the Weapon Master Mode. When equipped, it increases Link's attack by 20% but also causes him to take 20% block damage compared to the usual 10%. This penetrable guard is countered by the fact that the sword will cause Link's health to regenerate by 5 HP every second.

Takes 20% block damage
A sword blessed by the Great Fairy, rumored to be able to reflect any and all dark magic. Merely holding it fills the wielder with strength, but unfortunately, its protective power did not survive intact in this world, and it is no longer able to resist enemy attacks.

Trivia

  • If the B Button is pressed as Link swings the Great Fairy's Sword, Link will start charging a Spin Attack in a pose similar to the one used when Link charges a Spin Attack in Ocarina of Time while using the Biggoron's Sword and Giant's Knife.[6]
  • In Soul Calibur II, the Great Fairy's Sword, like the Biggoron's Sword, is shown to be more powerful than the Master Sword.
