Goombas appear in Link's Awakening in the side-scrolling parts of the dungeons. As such, these fungus species have limited movement.
They are based on the Goomba character from the Mario games. As an easter egg of sorts, if Link eliminates one with the traditional Mario stomp, they yield a heart as a reward.
