Fokkeru are enemies in The Adventure of Link.[1][note 1]
Characteristics
Fokkeru only appear in the Great Palace. They they hop up and down while moving back and forth, spitting fireballs in an upward arc. These fireballs sit and burn on the ground for short periods of time, and even move along the ground towards Link when they land. To defeat a Fokkeru, Link must get underneath the fireball arc and strike at it with his Sword.
Trivia
- The Futabasha guide artwork, which was not created by Nintendo, appears to be a complete misinterpretation of the sprite. Rather than appearing as a bird, it gives it a bizarre alien-like appearance.
Nomenclature
Fokkeru (pronounced /'ɸok.keɽu͍̥/ PHOHK-kel) is likely based on the German word "Vogel" (pronounced /ˈfoːɡəl/ FO-gəl), which means "bird".

Notes
- ↑ Fokkeru are also known as Sopranos in The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition—The Official Nintendo Player's Guide by Nintendo Power.[2] However, as this name contradicts the name given in Encyclopedia, it is not considered Canon.
