The Fireshield Earrings are an item obtained by Link after successfully passing the test of Din's Silent Realm. They appear as a pair of red earrings with triangular spikes.
Upon entering an extremely hot region such as the Volcano Summit, the Fireshield Earrings will flash and prevent Link from spontaneously combusting, allowing him to explore the area unhindered. The earrings will also automatically extinguish Link should he be set on fire by an enemy or trap, reducing the damage taken. They do not protect Link from fire-based attacks or direct contact with lava.
