An Ancient Text is a book in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Location and Uses

An Ancient Text is found on a table inside Calip's cabin behind Fort Hateno's wall. It provides a riddle about the nearby graveyard, instructing people to pierce a statue's eye at night. This is the key to the Shrine Quest "The Cursed Statue," which is given by Calip. Calip himself studies it every night,[2] though he is unable to discern its meaning. If Link indulges in Calip's desire to be called "Doctor," Calip will directly quote the book for Link,[3] claiming that it's harmless to share the riddle that he has not yet been able to solve.[4]

When a dark light resides in the cursed statue's eyes, pierce its gaze to purge the seal from the shrine.
