The Fire Rod is a casually returning item in the Legend of Zelda franchise. It allows the hero Link to harness the power of fire. At some extreme times, his evil counterpart Shadow Link uses it too.

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past This red rod harnesses the power of fire, and can shoot a torrent of flames at the target in exchange for a big drain on its caster's magic power, slowly incinerating the unlucky foe. Link also uses this as a tool to light torches from a distance. It proved very helpful against the guardian of the Skull Dungeon, Mothula.

In The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, the item had the same effect. Going under a different name, the Magic Rod, it was used to light torches from a distance, attack enemies, and sometimes burn plains of grass. The item was achieved at the middle of the Turtle Rock dungeon, and was an essential item in the aid of defeating the dungeons boss, Hot Head. There is no cost to use it, making it one of the best weapons in the game.

In The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures the item returned. Though it could only be held when you weren't using another item, it was essential to some puzzles, and defeating some enemies. At times, your evil counterpart Shadow Link would use it to try and defeat our pack of heroes.
