Cooking allows Link to create Food using a Cooking Pot in Breath of the Wild.

Summary

If a Cooking Pot has a fire lit underneath, Link can use it to cook food. Up to five different Materials can be cooked together by holding them and throwing them into the pot. The resulting food can have various effects when eaten, such as restoring Hearts or giving a temporary stat boost. If Link cooks during a Blood Moon, the food will receive a more powerful effect.

Link can also throw certain Materials into an open flame to cook them. The material will catch on fire and burn for a short time, before becoming a cooked version of the material that can be picked up. This method of cooking will only increase the Hearts restored of the material.
