In The Ocarina of Time, Princess Ruto finds herself consumed by an apparently-ill Lord Jabu-Jabu. In a desperate effort to have herself saved, she wrote a letter, stuck it in an Empty Bottle and cast it out of her captor. Somehow, it ended up at Lake Hylia. Once removed from the bottle, Link can read this letter-although it is primarily for King Zora's viewing, and upon handing over the letter the king will allow access to Lord Jabu Jabu's abode in Zora's Fountain.
