Devalant
Debirando is a monster that both appears and behaves similar to that of a larval antlion[1] and first appeared in A Link to the Past.
It is a giant burrowing insect with large snapping pincers that lives in desert regions. It creates sinkholes in the sand as it burrows underneath, drawing in its prey. Red Debirandos are also able to spit fireballs over a long distance. If Link gets caught in the sinkhole, it is virtually impossible to escape, so the young hero will have to fight the Debirando up close while it attempts to seize him with its claws. They are not particularly strong, but they can cause a lot of damage if Link gets caught in the sand trap. Like many desert enemies, they are especially weak to the Ice Rod.
Trivia
- The behavior of Molgera when submerged in the sand is very similar to that of a Debirando, but on a much larger scale.
