An Hrok is an enemy featured in Skyward Sword. They are bird-like enemies residing in Lanayru Desert

Appearance and Features

Hroks are large majestic blue birds that roost on top of the many dead trees scattered across the Lanayru Desert region. If they spot Link stepping into their territory they will take flight and attept to hurt him. Link can try to outrun the Hrok but they can fly an extremely large distance from their roost if they want to hurt him. Hroks attack Link by dropping large boulders on top of him and will continue to drop boulders until they manage to get in a hit. Link can try to avoid this by making sure he is never right under the Hrok's shadow. In order to defeat a Hrok he has to use his Beetle and attempt to drop a Bomb on the Hrok while they are roosting on top of their tree, or Link can eventually just shoot them down with his Bow and Arrows. All Hroks will drop a Red Rupee worth 20 Rupees when defeated.

Etymology

The Hrok's name likely derives from both the Roc, a mythical bird of enormous size and strength, and a Rock of which is drops in it's attack
