Mido is the moody Kokiri that lives in Kokiri Forest in Ocarina of Time. He won't let Link pass through to the Great Deku Tree unless he gets the Kokiri Sword and Deku Shield. Link and Mido were constant rivals for Saria's friendship and affection. Before Link finally received a fairy of his own, Mido would mock him for not having a fairy companion, calling him "Mr. No Fairy" and saying that without a fairy, he was not a real man. [1] What made Mido even more jealous was the fact that Link got chosen over Mido to see the Great Deku Tree, giving Mido a severe inferiority complex. After destroying the creature from Ganondorf inside the Deku Tree, Link was given the task of saving Hyrule. The Deku Tree died as a result of the curse laid on him by Ganondorf and Mido was quick to blame Link for this. However, memories of him were soon forgotten when Link left the village and didn't return for seven years.

When Link returned to the forest as an adult, Mido said he looked like a child he had nearly forgotten. After playing Saria's Song in front of him, Mido knew that Link must be one of Saria's friends (Saria herself had just been captured) and gave Link passage to the Forest Temple. If Link speaks to him a second time, Mido adds that if he ever sees the boy he once knew, he wants him to know that he's sorry about everything he said.[2] Mido was seen at the end of Link's journey in the celebration in Lon Lon Ranch. He was sitting next to King Zora, both likely worrying about what had happened to their loved ones.

Theories

Fado is Mido's sister - It is speculated that Fado is Mido's sister. Aside from having similar names, Fado often displays concern for Mido's opinion. When he blames Link for the death of the Great Deku Tree, Fado is the only other to repeat that accusation to Link.[3] When talked to with a mask on that Fado doesn't like, she threatens Link she will tell Mido about it and that he will beat him up.[4][5] In contrast, when she's spoken to with a mask she likes (except for the Skull Mask[6]), she requests Link that he doesn't tell Mido.[7] While it is possible Fado's simply a very good friend of his, the dialogue supports siblinghood just a bit better.
