Hey, I'd love to do some image transparency work, I have experience with editing images, adjusting levels, and adding transparency. It's something I'd love to do. I also create concept images and original work, such as the triforce, rupees, and concept rupee "sketches", which I could post if you would like. Makar Rocks

Hi. I downloaded GIMP 2.6.6 and have been fiddling around with it a lot for the past week. I've experimented with adding transparency to several of the images on the Image Request page, and I feel I'm getting a lot better at it, although some are much harder than others. I'm working on the Anju image now. I'd like to apply for doing transparency requests. I probably won't be doing too many images if I'm accepted, but I just want to help out a little if I can. :D --Makar Rocks 22:42, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Sure thing. So that we can assess your skills can you please work on making the following files transparent:

I tried to cleanup the boss key image: File:Boss Key.png. I'm not sure it turned out well, though. Those horns are pretty hard to edit around, especially the tips. I've been playing around with changing the opacity of the eraser, but it's difficult. I also have been working at the pig image for a long time. It's entirely up to you. You're free to continuing practicing, or pull out if you wish. For some feedback on the Boss Key, it is done quite well, except for the edging, which shows a little stroke and some choppyness - so isn't quite up to standard, but your skills are developing. Alter

Alright, I'd like to apply as an image editor. I use Gimp 2.4.7, and am also quite skilled with Paint when it comes to cropping, etc. As you all know, I've uploaded dozens of images, almost all of which had to at least be cropped, and many other which were transparasized. I can easily do this with simpler 2D images, and some smaller 3D ones. The only images I've really struggled with, are ones with heavily shaded characters, such as MM art pieces. All right. I'll give you some to do. Try these out:

Upload the new versions as new files, don't overwrite those ones. Curves are one of the single hardest things to follow properly. If you can manage to get past that, the rest shouldn't be that difficult. Also try placing a highly contrasting background behind it as you work to get all the stuff that would normally be more difficult. Best of luck at that.User:Matt/sig 00:00, June 18, 2009 (UTC)

You can try it without keeping the shadows. Either way keep at it. Doing something hard can boost your confidence and quality with other images.User:Matt/sig 17:29, June 18, 2009 (UTC)

OK, file:Mushroomnew.png is complete. Thanks, Matt. :) I'll messed around with Gooma: file:05b-goomanew.png. Seeing as I've barely played AoL, it was hard to tell what was part of the picture. Eximius

I want to apply for the image editing, either cropping, or transparency. I am a photographer and I have been editing pictures on Photoshop for quite some time. I was only aware that some images needed work so took the freedom to change them. Sorry for editing the other pictures with out authorization. So far you have seen one sample. other samples include:

This last image had some characters on the side of the dress. I can Imagine it was a scan from a magazine. Well, there are gone, and the image looks better. ThanksEximius 04:56, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

I'll take your silence as a you don't care or don't mind about it. I am very aware of image quality, as I am a photographer. So any edits I'll do will be beneficial to the site. If any body believes I am causing any issues, please let me know so that they can be corrected right away. I did not joined this wiki to vandalize it, but to help improve it. Actually we are just trying to figure out how we are going to do all this. It is a very new policy and we sort of rushed into it before we knew were we were heading. I don't think we'll do much on the applications until we figure this all out. Be patient.User:Matt/sig 22:56, June 22, 2009 (UTC)

Need Help

I think I can give a hand with this. So far I have worked with Tetra. There are so many other things that I don't know how to edit properly on the wiki, like deleting the old images. Tip for anybody who wants to start helping, save on PNG instead of gif for transparency. The edges are much sharper, and so it's original quality is kept better. Hi Eximus. Firstly, deleting old images is something that only administrators can do. If there is an image you believe should be deleted you need to place the {{Delete}} template on the page, and it will be appropriately dealt with. It is already a wiki quality standard for transparent files to be in .png format, over .gif. I get the feeling you need to have a read of the details at the top of the Image Requests Page so you understand exactly what you can and can't do with image requests.

With your last line, you cannot replace a file with a new version that is of a different file extension. You must upload it as a new file, redirect all of the pages from the old image to the new image, and then request the old file to be deleted. Again, you need to have a read of the information on the image requests page to see how exactly Image Requests work at Zelda Wiki.org. You will need to apply (See above) if you wish to do any image editing other than screenshot cropping.

Having a look at that Tetra image that you worked on. It is of great quality, however you are not an approved image editor, so you shouldn't be doing transparencies.
