The Desert Colossus is a massive statue in Ocarina of Time located at the rear of the Haunted Wasteland, far out of Hyrule's boundaries. It is a vast carving in the stone that is believed to be carved by the

Gerudo to represent their Goddess of the Sand. Before gaining entrance to the Sacred Realm and taking the Triforce of Power, this ancient stronghold was the secret hideout for Ganondorf and his followers. During his seven year reign as ruler of Hyrule, the ancient building became the base of operations for his "mothers", collectively known as Twinrova. It was here where they captured and brainwashed the Gerudo leader, Nabooru. They kept her there until they were defeated in an epic battle against Link, who had traveled far and wide to awaken the final sage.

Importance

The Desert Colossus contain the Spirit Temple and a Fairy Fountain where Link can obtain Nayru's Love. It also contains a dried up Fairy Fountain which can be awakened with the use of the Song of Storms. After playing the song, several fairies will come to your aid. It is also the place where Link learns the Requiem of Spirit from Sheik, which is important in completing the Spirit Temple.
