Forest Rooms are recurring locations in The Legend of Zelda series.(OoT | SS)[1][2] Forest Rooms go unnamed in Ocarina of Time 3D and Skyward Sword HD.

Features and Overview

Ocarina of Time

The Forest Room is one of six elemental rooms located within Ganon's Castle. Contrary to its name, it is primarily centered around the element of Wind, with the only Forest elements being a group of wooden Torches in the first chamber, which Link must light while fighting off a Wolfos.

The main chamber involves the use of the Hookshot and Hover Boots to navigate around bottomless pits while collecting Silver Rupees. Complicating this task are several Fans situated around the chamber that can push Link into the bottomless pits. A Time Block can be summoned in front of a Fan to collect one of the Silver Rupees.

The Master Quest version of the Forest Room replaces the Wolfos in the first chamber with two Stalfos. A Torch sitting on the door frame ledge allows the use of the Hookshot to reach a Small Key, which is guarded by a lone Fan propeller. After being acquired, this Key can be used in the Light Room. The main chamber is made significantly more difficult, as the lone Beamos is now reinforced by several more of its kind and an Armos statue. Eye Switches are now hidden behind two of the Fan propellers, one of which requires a Fire Arrow to melt the Ice blocking it.

Trivia

  • The Forest Room being Wind-themed in Ocarina of Time is a leftover from the game's development stage, when the Forest Medallion was instead the Wind Medallion.[3]
