The Light Room is a location in Ocarina of Time.[1]

Features and Overview

The Light Room is initially blocked by a stone monolith that can only be moved using the Golden Gauntlets.

The theme of the Light Room is centered around optical illusions, similar to the Shadow Temple and Shadow Room. The first room contains a group of treasure chests guarded by invisible Keese and a Skulltula. Some of the treasure chests are traps containing magical frost; the Keese are perched on the real chests.

The next rooms involve playing Zelda's Lullaby and collecting Silver Rupees under a time limit while avoiding some boulders. At first, the Light Barrier will appear to be missing from its chamber, and Link will instead be menaced by a falling Wallmaster. Upon closer inspection, the room is actually a decoy; using the Lens of Truth reveals an illusory wall with the real Light Barrier chamber on the other side.

In the Master Quest version, the invisible Keese and Skulltula are replaced by Torch Slugs and a Dinolfos. The room with Zelda's Lullaby no longer yields a key when the song is played, forcing Link to find it in one of the other elemental rooms in Ganon's Castle. The next room no longer has rolling rocks and silver rupees, and is instead guarded by a Beamos and some flame walls. The decoy Light Barrier room replaces the Wallmaster with a Walltula; however, even with the Lens of Truth, the way cannot be opened until hitting a switch hidden inside one of the yellow Light braziers.

Trivia

  • The Light Room being hidden by the stone monolith might be a reference to the fact there is no playable Light Temple in the game; for more information, see the Temple of Light.
