Link's pig pals

Pigs appear in The Wind Waker and behave similarly to Cuccos. They are generally peaceful and struggle in vain when you pick them up. They come in various colors - pink, black, and pink with black spots. The easiest way to pick up a pig is to sneak up to it. An alternative would be to chase it into the water and wait for it to come back to shore, where you can pick it up before it starts running away. Pigs love to eat, and after consuming the bait you scatter, they might dig into the ground and release some rupees and items for you. Attack a pig too many times and it becomes the fourth color - red. This means that it is angry and will attack you in return. An angry pig is one of the most dangerous beings you'll encounter on Windfall Island as its brothers will come after you as well. Escape from the pig of fury by entering a building or jumping into water. On Windfall island, if you climb onto something where the pigs can't reach you, they will eventually give up on you and return to normal, thankfully. The water will change the pig back to its default color and temperament. After you go to Greatfish Isle and Windfall Island and return to Outset Island, you'll find that one of the pigs has grown immensely. You can anger this pig as well, and if you get hit by it it will deal out four hearts of damage, more damage than if Ganondorf himself hit you! If you have the power bracelets, you can actually pick it up and carry it, although you move very slowly. It turns out that this pig can still swim as well, although it is possible to throw it behind a rock and pin it there, for it to swim for the remainder of it's piggy days. If you put more than one in the pen at the start of the game there will only be one in there. If you go inside the house that is right next to the pen you are told that they were delicious.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the pigs are seen as both part of a victory pose of Toon Link's, and also as a trophy.
