Deku Toad
Template:Boss The Deku Toad (デグトード, Degu Toad) is the mini-boss of the Lakebed Temple in Twilight Princess.` The Deku Toad attacks by jumping to the ceiling and trying to land on Link, and by hatching the Toado eggs on her back. Once Link defeats all of the Toados, which can be easily done with a spin attack, the Deku Toad will leap to the ceiling again, and if she misses, she will fall really hard against the floor sticking out her tongue. Link can also force it to stick out it's tongue by firing a Bomb Arrow into it's mouth when it opens. Once her tongue is out, she can be damaged by slashing it with the sword. After a few hits she will go down and spit up a chest with the Clawshot. The Deku Toad is a giant version of the enemy Toadpolis, that are similar to the Octoroks in other Zelda games.
It is unknown why it has the prefix "Deku" in its name, considering the the Deku are a plant-like race. But it could possibly be because of her glowing eyes (a trait of all Dekus) and the plant-like growths on her head. The Deku Toad is similar to the real-world Surinam Toad as they both carry their eggs on their back.
Trivia
The Deku Toad bears some similarity in the way it acts to Wart, a mini-boss of the Great Bay Temple. Like Wart, it has many eyes on its body, but not nearly as many as Wart did. It also starts the battle on the ceiling, like Wart.
