The Giant Ghini[1] is a larger variant of a Ghini. It is a rare creature that only appears in a specific part of the Cemetery of Koholint Island, the part above where the Color Dungeon is located in the DX version of Link's Awakening, and The Swamp of Four Swords Adventures. While in Link's Awakening they are defeated just like the other members of its family, in Four Swords Adventures they can only be destroyed by lighting the torches as they swarm around Dampe's house.

Another version of the Giant Ghini appeared as the mini-boss for Spirit's Grave in Oracle of Ages.[2] This Giant Ghini was accompanied by three smaller spirits, offshoots of the Giant Ghini who acted like Gels, stopping Link from moving quickly, but also stopping him from moving. When this happened, the Ghini would charge him. As long as the Giant Ghini was alive, it could keep recreating its smaller alter-egos.

Characteristics

The only thing the Giant Ghini has over the regular Ghini is its sheer size and a little extra health, allowing it to hurt Link more easily. However, this is also its weakness, as it allows Link to attack them from a further range. Spin attacks with the sword are the best way to deal with this spirit.

The Oracle of Ages version is a little different, but essentially the same. Defeating the three smaller spirits before attacking the Giant Ghini makes it easier for Link to attack it, then he may attack without the ghosts latching onto him, and before they respawn to cause more trouble.
