The Nintendo GameCube is Nintendo's fourth home console system. Though it had initially strong sales, its release over a year after the Playstation 2 (as well as other mistakes by Nintendo) caused it to lag behind in sales.

Due to disappointing sales figures, Nintendo's lack of care for online gaming and a controller with a smaller button count, the console also lost a lot of third party support, which ultimately meant that the selection games to choose from was not nearly as extensive as the GameCube's main competitors, Playstaion 2 and X-Box.

Nintendo fans, however, frantically support the system and turn a blind eye to any of its faults, which is often referred to as fanboyism. However, that being said, the 'Cube does have a good amount of quality 1st and 2nd party games, which are sure to please buyers of the system with classics such as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, Super Mario Sunshine, F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

Zelda Games

With The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition and the Nintendo Game Boy Player, every main Zelda game except Phantom Hourglass can be played on the Gamecube. The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link can be played on the Gamecube through Collector's Edition and through the GameBoy Player with the NES Classic versions of the games. A Link to the Past can be played through the GameBoy player with the GBA remake of the game. Link's Awakening/Link's Awakening DX can be played through the GameBoy Player. Ocarina of Time can be played through The Wind Waker bonus disc and Collector's Edition. Majora's Mask can be played through Collector's Edition, although sound irregularities and freezing can occur in this version. Four Swords can be played through the GameBoy Player, as canThe Minish Cap. Phantom Hourglass is the first Zelda game which cannot be played on the Gamecube.
