Lake Floria is a location in Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild. In Skyward Sword, it is located in the most south eastern section of the Faron Woods. It is inhabited by the squid-like Parella tribe and their protector, the great Water Dragon Faron.

Skyward Sword

Lake Floria is the largest known body of water that exists in the present day on the Surface. It it inhabited by a large range of flora and aquatic creatures and enemies. Most of the lake is composed of large submerged underground caverns which can be explored through the use of the Water Dragon's Scale and the bomb-like Froaks.

Link first discovers the entrance to Lake Floria after completing Farore's Silent Realm. He obtains the Water Dragon's Scale, allowing him to swim underwater, and makes his way up to the top of the canopy of the Great Tree, where he meets the Kikwi Hermit known as Yerbal. He reveals the location of the entrance to Lake Floria.[1]

The lake is inhabited by the squid-like Parella tribe, who are protected by the Water Dragon Faron. She was entrusted with a part of the Song of the Hero and protects Farore's Flame.[2] Shortly before Link arrived, however, Lake Floria was invaded by Ghirahim and his force of aggresive beasts known as Cranioc,[3] and Faron was injured as a result.[4]

Nearby the lake is the Ancient Cistern, a water/dark themed dungeon where Link can obtain the Whip and Farore's Flame.

Breath of the Wild

Lake Floria appears in the game, and is located in the Faron region of Hyrule. It is a large body of water feed by River Floria. Much like its Skyward Sword counterpart, features large waterfalls known as the Floria Falls. The Floria Bridge is a large bridge that spans the entire Lake Floria

Theories

Lake Hylia

It is speculated that Lake Floria is an earlier incarnation of the future Lake Hylia, similar to how both Eldin Volcano and Lanayru Desert may one day become Death Mountain and Gerudo Desert respectively. Evidence supporting this is Lake Hylia's south eastern location in The Minish Cap and Template:ALTTP, the former even being surrounded by woods.

Zora's Domain and Zora's Fountain

It is also speculated that Lake Floria may one day become Zora's Domain and Zora's Fountain, as well as Veil Falls. The reason for this is because one Mogma refers to Lake Floria as being the "water source" of the land, a role also held by the future named locations as well.

The gate that leads to that lake is sealed shut to all those judged unworthy... But don't worry, kwwwwrk. I'll let you in on the trick to opening the gate." — Yerbal (Skyward Sword)
  2. "The goddess gave the flame to the Water Dragon, a great spirit that presides over Faron Woods. The way I hear it is she left the flame in the care of the Water Dragon so that one day the mighty dragon could pass it on to the "one from the sky"..." — Yerbal (Skyward Sword)
  3. "Yikes! Oh, they're back! That's one of the fish that weirdo brought in here and used to attack Her Excellence. Watch out--they're mean as they come!" — [[Parella]] (Skyward Sword)
  4. "Yeah, about that... It happened really recently. This weirdo came in here with a gang of monsters and went right after Her Excellence. My lady the Water Dragon is a fierce fighter, and, boy, did she gobble up most of those monsters in the first few seconds. Thing is, there were just so many of them! While she was distracted, the weirdo leading all those creatures managed to wound her. She's healing up now, but she says we don't have enough special water for her to make a full recovery." — Parella (Skyward Sword)
