If [[Dubious Food]] or a [[Failed Experiment]] are made instead, then several of these effects change: the clinking noises become smashing and breaking sounds as the cooking nears its end; the materials do not leap high into the air; the sparkling smoke is replaced by a puff of black smoke; and a rattling percussive sound plays upon completion. Link will also be visually and audibly distraught with the outcome.

Template:Object A Cooking Pot is a type of interactive object found throughout the world of Breath of the Wild. They allow for the most effective method of cooking in the game, in that they provide Link with a means to combine various Materials.

Location and Uses

In order to use a pot, Link must first light the fire resting beneath it. After doing so, Link can combine various materials within the pot and cook them, thus producing a new food item which will typically feature much improved restorative properties and/or status buffs. The materials that Link can place in the pot include any ingredients that are edible in themselves, as well as some collectibles that cannot be consumed until combined and cooked. Up to five materials can be combined in a pot. The items that are produced span a variety of foods and elixirs.

Known cooking pot locations are limited, as they have thus far only appeared in the E3 2016 demo and trailer footage. Pots can be found:

Characteristics

The pots appear to be quite large, seemingly being several in-game feat in width. They are made of stone, and rest upon black-metal frames with four legs that lift the pots above the open-air fires beneath.

Using the pot triggers a short cutscene in which Link watches the cooking process. As Link drops the materials into the heated pot, a splashing effect rises off of it, accompanied by a short steam-like sound. The pot then begins to jiggle slightly and the various materials bounce within it whilst they cook. During cooking, steam continuously rises from the pot and a sizzling sound can be heard. Interestingly, a percussive piece of music also plays above the sizzling, and it is composed of various clinking timbres intended to imitate the sorts of sounds one might hear in a kitchen. Link also hums a very short tune whilst all this is going on. Once cooking is completed, the materials leap high into the air before landing back in the pot with a thud and amidst a cloud of sparkling smoke. A short orchestral effect indicates that the process has been successful, and Link gesticulates in triumph.

If Dubious Food or a Failed Experiment are made instead, then several of these effects change: the clinking noises become smashing and breaking sounds as the cooking nears its end; the materials do not leap high into the air; the sparkling smoke is replaced by a puff of black smoke; and a rattling percussive sound plays upon completion. Link will also be visually and audibly distraught with the outcome.
