Template:Character Demon Lord Ghirahim (Pronounced /gɪər rɑː ˈhiːm/, geer-rah-HEEM)[1] is a character featured in Skyward Sword. He is a figure of authority in the land below Skyloft who thinks highly of himself,[2][3] preferring to be called "Lord Ghirahim".[4]

At some point in the game, he summons a tornado in Skyloft that sucks up Link and Zelda.[5] However, he fails in capturing his target, Zelda, because a "servant of the goddess" took her instead.[6] Ghirahim's main interest appears to be capturing her.[7][8]

Battle

Eventually, Link is forced to fight against Ghirahim. Link must hit the Demon Lord several times with his sword, although Ghirahim is capable of easily dodging and blocking Link's sword strikes with just two fingers. After being hit enough times, Ghirahim will draw a sword of his own. Throughout the fight, he can vanish at will and transport to another part of the room. He can also summon pink spike-like objects which he can throw at the young hero to damage him. While Ghirahim is wielding his sword, he will briefly charge at Link and unleash a powerful strike at him.

At the end of the fight, Ghirahim is surprised at Link's skills but reminds him that Link's sword is the only reason the young hero is still alive. He also tells him that the presence of Zelda has faded from where they are. Before leaving, Ghirahim warns Link that if he meets him again, he will die.[9]

Trivia

  • Ghirahim has and impressive amount of similarity to the Gilded Sword, which led some fans to believe that he was mentioned sword's human form.
  • He also has impressive strength that exceeds that of Ganon and Majora's Wrath, due to the fact that he can block attacks with only two fingers.
  • Strangely, his right ear is pointed, while his left ear is round.
  • He closely resembles Bleach's Ulquiorra Schiffer, and David Bowie's character in Labyrinth.
  • Prior to the E3 2011 press conference, in the Zelda community, he was referred to as "Debbie".
