WikiExclusive Question

Hey, I know I'm fairly new, but I saw you had a place for Wiki Exclusives. I'm in AP high school classes and am use to writing papers. I'm also active at posting on Zelda Universe, so I get some of the opinions of the Zelda fans. I love the enthusiasm, by the way! ;) The WikiExclusive is a personally-driven article, where the inspiration comes from within. I've written a few myself (their links are in the WikiExclusives Portal above), if you want to see examples of formatting, style, and length, as have a few other editors on this site. PH Treasure Charts

Do you know whether or not the charts in Phantom Hourglass are numbered? I'm interested on filling the empty parts of the Treasure Chart page, but I want to order them by island if they're out of numerical order (I've collected 27 so far, but the Quest screen doesn't order them at all). --K2L (Interrogatory) 21:00, 13 November 2010 (EST)

Ugh, I spoke too soon!! D= D= D= The CoolTable template was superseded by the older, more convoluted table. Bot vs Manual?

Hi, I have another question. I noticed that the language template has two versions: A manual version writen like the coding for a table or infobox; the other is a simpler, horizontal coding added by a bot (StoneWatcher, maybe?). Considering that the bot version is more compact and simpler, shouldn't we supersede the manual version? Or can both stay? Thanks in advance =). --K2L (Interrogatory) 00:48, 20 November 2010 (EST)

Good question. You're right, the StoneWatcher was programmed a month or two ago to input in the horizontal coding. The only difference is in the direction of the coding, everything else from the functionality to the appearance of the Language Box in the article looks the same between versions. It's really a matter of personal preference, but because they both work the same, exact way, there isn't really a need to replace one for the other - that would only result in gray hairs and bursting neck veins! I'd say use the one that takes less time to put in. And thanks, by the way, for helping out so much with the language variations! Sorry for bothering you again, but I have one more question. I'm interested to write a WikiExclusive article (perhaps two, although I hate to be too ambitious), but what do I need to know before preparing one (for example, what are the basic rules?) You never bother me! Don't worry :) The staff has written an informal/formal guideline for writing and submitting WikiExclusives in the Help Guide here. And please write as many as you want, there is no cap! I made some tweaks to it, such as lengthening the conclusion, making the questions and answers into an introduction and thesis, and fixing the test-effect. If you want to release them at ZI, let me know and we can schedule them in, or if you want them back to release as Wiki exclusives, or whatever you want done with them. Hey Purlo, the WikiExclusive is posted on a private staff forum, so I will not be able to give you any link - you won't be able to get to the article even if you arrived at the page! :( Either way, I can give you what the staff thinks so far, here it is:

1)The writing itself is a bit informal. The use of "ToT" and "OoT", as well as a few typos and misspellings count against this article. In school, you would not be able to get away with abbreviating the Temple of Time as ToT as often as you do, and the same rule applies here. Also, the informality presented in with parentheses should be removed as well. Remember this is a persuasive essay, more or less, not a conversation!

2)The quality of the writing is a bit unclear in parts. For example, when talking about a "submerged section" of the Temple of Time, it becomes a bit confusing as to what you are actually referring to/talking about. Elaborate more and be a bit more concise/focused in your argument.

Other than that, the rest of the comments praised the presentation and development of the theory. You're close, there are mainly minor fixes that need to be made before this can be published under ZW standards. I'm afraid the comments will be similar. After another read through, there are still many "ToT", "OoT", and "TP" abbreviations, and there are still a few informal parentheses remarks, i.e. "(I believe)". It's ready at last

Well, I finally made it. The WikiExclusive Project's name is Influence of the Gameplay Mechanics. I have corrected every grammar typo I could see, added images, and completed the game sections. Hey. I'm a new user to Zelda Wiki, but I've been using it for a long while. I am a big Zelda fan and I think I know a lot about the secrets and mysteries of many Zelda games. Sounds great to me! However, because Zelda Wiki is a wiki and not an ad service, we cannot advertise your blog on the site. Zelda fansites, such as ZeldaInformer and Zelda Eternity and multimedia sites, such as World Zelda Music Radio have the opportunity to affiliate with the wiki, through a formal process, however, because your site is a personal blog, this avenue is unavailable as well. :( Sorry about that!
