What if it's not the best for the content? By jumping in and doing it in haste, you cut out any opinions that may be had by the community and only work from your own! It may seem urgent to us editors, however to readers/non-editors that visit the wiki, a merge may not even seem necessary, apparent, or even appropriate. All in all, though it seems like it may take forever to amass opinions, it must be done to get an accurate assessment of the practicality of the merge.
