The Magical Rod or Magic Rod is a reoccurring weapon in the Zelda series, although it has only appeared in The Legend of Zelda and Link's Awakening, and is likely to have been replaced by the Fire Rod in subsequent games.

There is also an item called the Book of Magic (バイブル, Bible) which appears in The Legend of Zelda, and is able to increase the power of the Magical Rod. The Book of Magic has only ever appeared once in the series.

After gaining the Book of Magic (バイブル, Bible), the Magical Rod's attack leaves a fire effect similar to that of a Red Candle when it makes contact with an enemy or wall, causing more damage. It can be found in Level 8 (Lion Labyrinth) in the first quest, and Level 4 (Snake Labyrinth) in the Second Quest.

The Magic Rod is used to expel blasts of magical energy in the form of fireballs, and is the main tool in the final dungeon of Link's Awakening, Turtle Rock. It is primarily used as a weapon and for lighting unreachable torches. The Magic Rod is vital to defeating the dungeon's boss, Hot Head. If Link leaves Eagle's Tower after obtaining the Mirror Shield with the intention of going to Turtle Rock earlier, but before defeating the the boss of Eagle's Tower, the Magic Rod can also act as a very effective weapon against Evil Eagle.

Through Link's Awakening's notorious screenwarp glitch, Link can obtain the Magic Rod right after he gets his sword from Toronbo Shores. This cheat can prove very useful do to its incredible damage.

The Magic Rod is one of the most powerful weapons in Link's Awakening, doing twice as much damage as even the Seashell Sword (Level 2 Sword). The Boomerang, Bow, Seashell Sword (with a Piece of Power, The Red Tunic or a Spin Attack) and Magic Powder can in some cases match it (and in rare cases surpass) in terms of power, but due to the Magic Rod's range, speed and unlimited use, it can be considered slightly more effective.

There are some enemies the Magic Rod does less damage against, or cannot damage at all, such as Crows, Takkuri and Stalfos.

The Magic Rod in Link's Awakening is also notable as one of the only things that can kill a Cucco.[1]
